Abstract
488,475. Cutting sugar confections &c. PONISCH, M. Dec. 7, 1937, No. 33866. Convention date, March 1. [Class 87 (ii)] A machine for cutting sugar confection &c. comprises shaping rollers 2 forming a wide band of material, cutting rollers 4 dividing the band lengthwise into strips, guides 9 above an intermittently moving conveyer 8 for moving the strips apart transversely, a cross-cutting device 24 severing the strips into pieces and a conveyer 34 for removing the pieces in rows to a coating machine. Rollers 10 are provided to feed the strips to the cross-cutter which comprises a knife 24 pivoted on two rotating crank discs 27, 28. The rollers 2, 4 and 10, and the belt 8 are driven intermittently by ratchets and pawls from an adjustable eccentric 22. A sloping base 33 is situated beneath the knife 24, over which base the cut pieces are pushed by the following strip and the conveyer 34 runs at a higher speed than the strips so as to space the rows of cut pieces.
