Abstract

721,754. Cutting blocks from strips of icecream &c. TURNER, R. Oct. 23, 1952 [Oct. 24, 1951], No. 24813/51. Class 87 (2). Strips of ice-cream are fed along a conveyer 2 or a fixed table to a reciprocating knife or knives 3. The knife is raised and lowered by a camoperated member 31 to cut blocks from the strips, and is moved with the strips, during cutting, by a cam-operated member 16. After cutting, the knife is moved by the member 16 to push the cut blocks into pockets in a continuously moving or intermittently moving conveyer 5. Guides are provided between each strip; if one knife is used it is slotted to receive each guide; and if several knives are used, they are spaced to clear the guides. The conveyer 2 is driven by a roller 42 driven from the cam shaft 27 by a gear train. The apparatus may be driven from the motor of an associated wrapping machine. The conveyer 5 may move in the same direction as the strips, instead of at right angles as shown. The guides may be fluted away at their forward ends to facilitate the correct placing of the blocks in the pockets of the conveyer 5.
