Abstract

418,321. Moistening charge. PATON, W. A., The Loaning, Johnstone, Renfrewshire. May 31, 1933, Nos. 15706 and 32794. [Class 7 (ii).] The air charge, passing down a pipe p to the carburetter, draws in moistened air from an annular chamber d, which is connected by a pipe g to the top of the radiator, and from which condensed moisture drains by a pipe h. A hand-operated hit-and-miss valve j, m adjusts the supply of moistened air, and a curved lip e assists the ejector action thereon of the charge entering through a gauze screen q. In a modification, some of the charge enters through perforations s<1>, Fig. 5, in the outer wall of the annular chamber and the moistened air entering by a pipe u<1> passes through a gauze screen w. One of the Provisional Specifications describes the outer casing as having a conical top on which moisture may condense, and a perforated coiled pipe in place of the lower part of the annular chamber.
