Abstract
243,282. Bull, A. A. April 30, 1925, [Convention date]. Density separators.-A separator for cleaning the air passing to the carburettor of an internal combustion engine has air entries at one end and dust discharge openings at the other end; means are provided in the casing to cause the air to turn more than once on its way to the outlet. The separator has entry vanes b to give the air a vertical motion, exits d for the dust, and a hood c over the base as described in Specification 237,895. A dome f is secured at the top of the casing a and in the centre of the ring of vanes; a discharge pipe p rises through the base of the casing its upper end being slightly spaced from the dome f. The air in passing through the separator is compelled first to turn round the edge of the dome and then to turn over the edge of the pipe p.
