Abstract

270,970. Watrous, R. E. Nov. 13, 1926, Density separators.-The air supplied to carburettors or compressors is cleansed from dust by a device comprising an upwardly-extending openended tube 4 which is secured to the air intake 3 and connected by arms 6 to a hood 7, a ring 9 provided with inclined blades 9<c> being secured to the top of the tube. The hood is flared outwardly at 7<c>, and a space 8<a> is left between the blades and the wall of the hood. The blades impart a whirling motion to the air, the heavier particles being thrown outwards by centrifugal force and falling out of the hood when the suction in the intake 3 ceases.
