Abstract
581,209. Centrifugal air cleaners. STOKES, E. A., and VOKES, Ltd. April 5, 1944, No. 6362. [Class 23] A large volume of air is induced through one or more inlets 7 by the ejector action of, e.g. gases passing from an internal-combustion engine exhaust silencer 4 to an outlet 6, but only a thin, inner layer of cleaned air is taken through slots 2 to the engine intake, or elsewhere. Dust particles, and the major volume of air passes out through 6. The ejector action may be derived from a blower, fan, steam or an air jet. In a modification, the apparatus is adapted to fit a fish-tail exhaust, using two elongated curved walls instead of a circular wall 8. After leaving the cleaner, the air may be subjected to further cleanings. Specification 562,102 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
