Abstract

661,649. Ventilating crankcases. COOK, C. A. (Fiat Soc. per Azioni). Dec. 13, 1949, No. 32003/49. Class 7(ii) The inlet pipe 9 between an air cleaner 5 and carburetter 4 is connected to the crankcase 1 by an inlet ventilation pipe 6 and to the head 8 of a casing enclosing the engine by an outlet ventilation pipe 7, the pipes 6, 7 being so arranged as to set up. a pressure at the end 6a of pipe 6 and a suction at the end 7a of pipe 7. The ends 6a, 7a may be directed towards the cleaner and carburetter respectively. In a modification, the pipes are formed with a partitioned common portion transversely of pipe 9 and having appropriately-directed openings.
