Abstract

572,755. Ventilating crank chambers. VAUXHALL MOTORS, Ltd., and PLATT, M. May 18, 1944, No. 9513. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii)] A crank-case ventilation system, for an engine having more than one cleaner for the combustion air, comprises a crank-case inlet connected between the cleaners and an outlet connected at least one stage beyond the inlet connection. Combustion air is drawn into an engine, as shown by the full line arrows, through a centrifugal cleaner c, a wet impingement cleaner d and a carburetter b. The crank-case ventilating air flows as indicated by the dotted arrows, the inlet being between the two cleaners and the outlet being directly to the carburetter b. The Provisional Specification also describes a system employing a single cleaner, the inlet being connected between the cleaner and the carburetter and the outlet being led through an automatic valve to the induction pipe.
