Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve suction efficiency and scavenging efficiency, by providing reed valves in accessory suction systems which are constructed by connecting accessory carburetors to a scavenging passage.
CONSTITUTION: A two-cycle engine 1 has a main suction system comprising an air cleaner 2, a main carburetor 3 and an intake port 4. A reed valve 5 is provided between the main carburetor 3 and the intake port 4. Ports 7, 7', each of which has one end opened into a scavenging passage, are provided in a cylinder 1a. Accessory carburetors 8, 8' are coupled to the other ends of the ports 7, 7'. Accessory suction systems are thus constructed. Reed valves 9, 9' are installed between the accessory carburetors 8, 8' and the ports 7, 7'. As a result, a mixture is sucked through the accessory suction systems in addition to another mixture which is sucked through the main suction system. Therefore, the total suction of the mixture is increased.
