Abstract
406,423. Vaporizers. GODWARD, E. R., 397, Ellis Road, Invercargill, New Zealand. Nov. 3, 1932, No. 31008. [Class 7 (iii).] Exhaust gases entering a chamber B at B<1> pass around a vaporizing chamber A of conoidal form and heat its wall which is provided externally with horizontal ribs. Within the vaporizing chamber A, vertical ribs A<2> co-operate with an inner conoidal plug C to divide combustible mixture entering at A<4> into separate streams which widen out as they ascend. The upper side of the plug C is open to the atmosphere to keep the plug cooler than the outer wall of the vaporizing chamber. The ascending mixture strikes stepped portions C<1>, C<2> of the plug C and these portions throw the heavier, wet particles in the mixture against the heated outer wall of the chamber A. Particles that are not thus vaporised drain down into an annular collecting chamber D disposed below the level of its mouth, which has a projecting lip D<1>, to retain the particles until they are vaporized and drawn out of the chamber by the suction of the main stream of combustible mixture.
