Abstract

235,672. Booth, J. H. April 3, 1924. Surface carburettors.-In a carburettor for an internal-combustion engine, in which the air intake is provided with an annular porous tube a dipping into a sump g containing liquid fuel, the tube a is formed with a tapered base to cooperate with a similarly shaped cone n. The latter is moved relatively to the porous tubes by a spring- controlled member m moving in a guide l and operated by a Bowden wire o or by the suction of the engine. Secondary air is admitted through an intake q having a revolving cover r with apertures s. The porous material may be recessed to receive wicks v. The porous tube may be mounted horizontally and several tubes may be used in one carburettor. Specification 207,217, [Class 55 (ii), Gas manufacture &c.], is referred to.
