Abstract

493,735. Surface carburetters. STOKISS, L. E. Jan. 18, 1938, No. 1615. Convention date, Jan. 18, 1937. [Class 7 (iii)] Mixture is formed by drawing air through a casing a over the upper ends of wicks c dipping into a fuel reservoir d. Further air is drawn from a space i open to the atmosphere through perforated tubes h and emerges through the surfaces of the wicks where it is mixed with air drawn from the upper part of the reservoir d through holes in tubes b surrounding the wicks. The air inlet to the casing a may be controlled by an unbalanced valve g, the outlets from several casings being controlled by a common valve. In Fig. 4, the wicks are disposed in several rows in the casing a and the air is passed in succession over the wicks which are surrounded by tubes p located inside perforated partitions o. The air admitted into the tubes h may be heated.
