Abstract

433,991. Charge forming devices. INTERNATIONAL MOTOR PATENTS PROPRIETARY, Ltd., 394, Collins Street, Melbourne, Australia. Oct. 15, 1934, No. 29490. Convention date, Aug. 17. [Class 7 (ii)] Pipes 44, 45, for crank case fumes and exhaust gases respectively, terminate in a mixing chamber 40 below the level of water 47 contained therein and covered by a film 50 of fuel oil upon which is a layer of lubricating- oil 49 supporting a floating baffle plate 51. The washed and humidified products are drawn through a series of gauze filters 72 along an outlet pipe 42 past controlled ports 30 to the mixing chamber 28 of the heated carburetter described in Specification 430,634, air being drawn through a valve 57 into the chamber 40 to mix with the products. The valve 57 consists of a chamber having an annular groove 59 open to the atmosphere through ports 60 but normally masked by a plunger 69 formed with slotted flanges 66, 67. A spring 62 supports the plunger 69 against engine suction which draws down the plunger to admit air to the chamber 40 and may permit the spring to raise it to vent the chamber through the ports 60.
