Abstract

211,831. Texas Gulf Sulphur Co., (Assignees of Kobbe, W. H.). Feb. 21, 1923, [Convention date]. Addition to 202,283. Vaporizing by heat or combustion.- Sulphur is burnt in a stack of square pans 5 each of which has a portion of the rim 6 cut awav on each side. so that the pans may be stacked' as shown in plan in Fig. 2. Each pan except the lowest may also have holes 7 so as to allow of sulphur overflowing from pan to pan thus maintaining a constant level of sulphur in the pans. The stack of pans may be arranged in a casing 4 having an adjustable air damper 9, a closure 8 to allow of removing the pans, a window 10 and a melting- pan 11 which contains sulphur for supplying the pans with an adjustable stream of sulphur by means of a valve 13. The casing is closed by a cover 17 and the gas is withdrawn by an outlet 18 in which is a fan 19 and an air damper 21 for ensuring complete combustion.
