Abstract
412,867. Liquid-fuel burners. SEMERIA, L., 31, Avenue Felix Faure, Paris. Jan. 5, 1934, No. 456. Convention date, Jan. 7, 1933. [Class 75 (i).] Liquid fuel is supplied through a pipe 3 to a recess 4 at the top of a frusto-conical member 1 and overflows down the conical wall 5 to a trough 6 from which it passes under the lower edge of a hood 20 surrounding the member 1 to the flat bottom of a combustion chamber 24 and is vaporized and burnt with air entering through holes 11 in the wall of the combustion chamber under natural or forced draught. If forced draught is employed the chamber 24 is enclosed by a casing 25 having a port 26 connected to a fan. Combustion is initiated by burning the fuel at a wick 16 in a trough 14 disposed outside the combustion chamber. The hood 20 is provided at its lower edge with serrations, corrugations or lugs 22 by which it rests in the combustion chamber and its flat top 18 is formed with depending projections 19 entering the recess 4 in the member 1. The flame on leaving the burner is throttled by an inwardly extending flange 13 and may then be expanded by a hopper-like device comprising diverging walls 28, 30.
