Abstract
404,030. Oil engines. LANZ AKT. GES., H., 53, Lindenhofstrasse, Mannheim, Germany. July 8,1932, No. 19393. Convention date, Aug. 10, 1931. [Class 7 (iii).] In a hot-bulb ignition engine, the channel b forming the communication between the cylinder a and combustion chamber c is arranged tangentially to the latter, so that the air, as it enters, is caused to pass completely over, or over the greater part of, the inner surface to pick up any unvaporized fuel particles. The incandescent surface is of greater area than the area of the remainder of the chamber c. The hot plate g has a cylindrical extension h whose wall is thicker than the wall of the plate. The chamber as shown is substantially spherical, but may be elliptical in crosssection. The channel b is flat in cross-section and meets the chamber c with a sharp edge l. The outlet to the cylinder is splayed. The channel b may be downwardly directed.
