Abstract

250,557. Kousnetzoff, A. I. April 11, 1925, [Convention date]. Starting.-At starting and during slow running, a mixture of air and acetylene is supplied to an engine normally using heavy oils. To this mixture may be added one of alcohol and air, or of air and a hydrocarbon of higher flash point. Acetylene may be supplied by way of a valve 2 with screens 3 for the prevention of back-firing; air is admitted at a port 4 and the mixture passes a. gasifier 6 for the heavy oil leaving the carburettor 5. The gasifier is described in Specification 222,188. [Class 75 (i), Burners &c.]. The addition of alcohol or hydrocarbon may be made by way of a tap fitted between the port 4 and gasifier 6.
