[Class 55 (ii).] Auxiliary air, admitted to the charge of an internal-combustion engine, is bubbled through water, or a mixture of water or benzol and alcohol, in a container 1 provided also with filtering means 7<a> comprising a mass of brass or other wire ; a valve 12 which may have remote control, adjusts the supply, The air inlet pipe 4 ends in a rose 5 in a well 21 which is located by a perforated anti-splash plate 22. A second filter 7b and a felt pad 27 are also provided. An inspection plug 9 has a gauze protector 10 through which the air passes to perforations 10<a>.
