Abstract

418,238. Thermionic valves. THOMAS, A. E. F., and THOMAS, C. E., 125, Upper Clapton Road, London. May 30, 1933, No. 15581. [Class 39 (i).] A filamentary cathode 7 of V- or W-form is supported from the central part of a mica strip 5 supported at its ends and flexed to tension the filament. The strip is carried on spacers 11 carried on the anode or grid support rods or it may rest on the anode ; the strip has holes to take over the rods. The lower ends of the filament are attached to bands 8 surrounding a lower mica strip 6 or they are connected directly to the leads 9. The upper end passes through holes in the strip 5 or is held by a spring hook 10. The lower ends of the filament may pass through slots in the mica strip 6. The posts 2 for the electrodes may be made telescopic to increase the tension on the filament.
