Abstract

403,205. Centrifuging thread. JENNINGS, H. W. K., 51, Chancery Lane, London. -(Glanzstoff-Courtaulds Ges.; 2, Neusser Landstrasse, Merheim, Cologne, Germany.) Oct. 7, 1932, No. 27990. [Class 23.] Apparatus for centrifuging thread or yarn windings, or similar objects has a casing 7 with a door 8 in its side. The windings are mounted upon interengaging carriers 13 of the kind described in Specification 358,151, [Group IV], and the carriers are supported in columns upon rods 4 pivoted at their lower ends to the plate 1 on the shaft 2. The bottom carriers rest on rubber rings. The upper ends of the rods 4 enter slots 5 in the ends of spider arms 3 or a second plate. The slots are inclined as shown in Fig. 2, so that centrifugal force tends to keep the rods in the slots while the machine is working, and the slots are closed by bolts 6 which are also kept in the closed position centrifugally. When necessary the rods with the windings may be brought successively to the doorway in the casing and swung outwards ; a stop is arranged on the hinge to limit the outward movement. Each rod 4 consists of a wooden cylinder with an iron core, and the door 8 has a projecting portion 8' to prevent the centrifuged liquid from spurting out.
