Abstract

1,165,030. Spin driers. MASCHINENFABRIK B. J. GOEDECKER. 9 Dec., 1966, No. 55186/66. Heading F4G. A spin drier comprises an open-topped drum 1 rotatable about a vertical axis which drum tapers conically towards its top and has an openable or detachable bottom portion. The bottom portion is formed by flaps 11 pivotable about a point 8 by a pull rod 6 within the drum suspending and driving shaft 2 under the action of an hydraulically-operated piston and cylinder 7. A time switch is arranged to control the drive motor 5 of the drum, the piston and cylinder 7 and a drum brake 13. The brake comprises permanent magnets 14, 15, at least one of each being disposed on the drum and a stationary part of the drier. Automatic counterbalancing of any imbalance of the drum during rotation is achieved by a ring member 19 above the drum spraying water into the segments 20 of an annular member mounted on the drum periphery when contacts of an electric circuit positioned on the drum meet contacts on the ring member to close the circuit and operate a valve in the source of water supply to the ring member.
