Abstract

117,801. Stokes, F. W. June 22, 1917. Casting - machines. -Consists in a centrifugal casting- machine in which the mould is made in parts which are closed by centrifugal action while the machine is running and are opened by other means when the machine stops, means being also provided to maintain the mould in the axial line while rotating. As shown, the mould is made in halves b, each of which is carried by a bell-crank' c, pivoted to the shaft of the machine and provided at its outer end with a weight g. The weights are coupled by springs h which hold the mould open when not rotating. Each weight has a pin k projecting into a slot in a loose plate i, by which means the mould is held in the axial line of the machine.
