Abstract

394,052. Cycle mudguards. WASDELL, E. T. and CHATWIN, G. F., Holdford Road Works, Witton, Birmingham. Feb. 4, 1932, No. 3293. [Class 136 (i).] In a band clip of the type described in Specification 277,903, [Class 136 (i), Cycle &c. accessories], for attaching one or more mudguard stays to a cycle frame, and wherein the stay is adjustably clamped in a sleeve on the clip by a bolt or other fastening adapted also to secure the clip to the cycle frame, the clip is made adjustable in size to fit various sizes of cycle frame members. In one form, the clip is formed in two parts 12, 14 of which one part 12 is made from a sheet-metal blank having ears adapted when bent to form sleeves 6, 7 to receive the mudguard stays 8. The other part 14 is formed with a hook 19 adapted to engage one of a series of vertical slots 15 in the part 12, according to the size of clip required ; in engaging the parts a terminal tongue 16 on the part 12 is first passed obliquely into a slot 20 in the part 14, the parts being then turned into line, notches 17 behind the tongue 16 engaging the edges of the slot 20. The main clip and the stays 8 are clamped by the same bolt 9 and wing-nut 10. In a modification, the clip is made in one piece, and the size is adjusted by means of more than one piercing for the bolt 9.
