728,723. Cycle gear-cases. GERVEN, G. W. VAN. June 29, 1953 [June 27, 1952 ; March 5, 1953], No. 18015/53. Class 136(1). A frame 1 for a chain-guard of a bicycle has a single two part clamp 4, 5 for detachably securing the frame to the rear fork tube 6, a resilient clip 7 being provided to close the clamp around the rear fork, and the clamping jaws 4, 5 being connected to the frame 1 by U-shaped stirrups 2, 3 respectively. The clip 7 has openings 8 to receive the projections 9 of a nut 10 into which is inserted a tightening screw 11. In an alternative embodiment, Figs. 5 and 7, clamping jaws 15, 16 are provided. The rear edges of the jaws are parallel and the front edges diverge in one direction longitudinally of the clamp. Hook like flanges 19 are formed on the rear edges of the clamping jaws to engage flanges 20 on a metal stay 21. A wedge-shaped slide member 23 having hook-like flanges 24 engages with the diverging flanges 22 at the front of the clamp.
