Abstract

389,744. Sanitary closets. McCARTHY, W. N. and McCARTHY, 1. M., 1, Strutton Ground, London. Sept. 14, 1932, No. 25581. [Class 26.] The base of the pan 1 is provided. with an opening which is normally closed by a perforated flap 14 hinged at 15 and connected by a crank 18 and link 17 to a frame 9 which is pivoted at 9a to the frame 11, is supported normally by a spring 10 and carries a seat 8. Mounted inside a tank 19 is a vessel 7 which is carried by a rod 21 connected to the end of arcuate bars 22 connected to the sides of the plate 14 and is provided with a spout 7a. When the seat 8 is depressed the flap 14 is raised to the vertical position and when the seat is vacated the flap 14 returns to the horizontal position and the vessel 7 is moved upwardly so that the spout 7a projects through an opening 6 in the wall 5 of the pan 1 and delivers water or disinfectant on to the flap 14. In a modification, the tank 19 is replaced by a drum which is provided with an outlet which may be at the end of an L-shaped pipe in the tank and is rotatably mounted on a rod connected by a crank and a link to the seat. The plate 14 is pivoted to the edge of the tank and to a link pivoted to the side of the pan. A receptacle with an inclined upper surface and a pivoted flap at the lower end of the said surface may be provided beneath the pan.
