Abstract
389,059. Siphon - discharge waterwaste-preventers. JACOBSEN, O. A. E., 59, St. George's Street, Durban, South Africa. Jan. 5, 1933, No. 432. [Class 26.] In order to ensure vertical movement of the bell of a siphon-discharge water-waste-preventer, it is suspended by means of a pair of parallel rods 12, 23. The rod 12 carries a yoke-trunnion attached to the bell and is secured to a spindle 28 carried in a boss 14. whilst the rod 23 is rigidly attached to the bell and is screwed into a rod 22 pivoted upon a pin 21 accommodated in a lug 19. The device may be operated by an attachment direct to the bell, or by a handle 16 secured to the spindle 28 and having a projection working within an arcuate slot in the boss, and serving to limit the rotation of the handle. A counterweight 15 is provided in the case where the bell is lowered from its normal position, but may be dispensed with or reduced in weight where the bell is first raised and then allowed to fall. An air-admission pipe 27 and an inlet pipe 4 are provided whilst the pipe 7 extends above the upper edge of the cistern.
