Abstract

491,606. Water - waste - preventers. LAWLEY, Ltd., W. & J., and GAUNT, SEN., J. W. March 16, 1937, No. 7614. [Class 26] In a flushing-cistern of the handle operated " low-down type, and comprising a siphon bell fitted with a weighted piston carrying a non-return valve, the piston rod extending through the top of the bell and being connected to the handle, the rod is connected by a link 8 to an arm 9 swinging about an anchorage 10 on the cistern, and an operating arm 14, pivoted to the cistern, is positively coupled by a link 13 with arm 9, so as to control its movement in both directions. The operating handle 16 is pivoted in a threaded boss on the cistern, and fast to its spindle is the arm 14. The link 13 embraces the arm 9 and is coupled to it by a pin 20. The weight of the operating mechanism is arranged to assist the fall of the piston after actuation.
