Abstract
651,102. Flushing cisterns. FORDHAM PRESSINGS, Ltd., and PARKER, J. F. Nov. 3, 1948, No. 28502. [Class 26] In a lifting mechanism for the discharge valve of a flushing cistern of the kind incorporating a suction device which releases its suction after a perod of time, the suction device comprises a suction pad 6 carried by a rod 4, the pad 6 having an annular rim 7 which coacts with a disc 3 carried by a tube 2 connected to the lifting hook 2a. On actuating the lifting mechanism the suction pad 6 with the rod 4 and hook are raised to lift the discharge valve. When the pad 6 and disc 3 are raised clear of the water air is permitted to break the suction of the suction device by means of a bleed hole 9 or the like whereupon the discharge valve descends on to its seating again.
