Feb. 25, 1953 [June 28, 1952], No. 16341/52, Class 26 In a syphon for closet &c. flushing cisterns comprising a body 1 with an inverted-U passage and a plunger 6 movable in an enlarged part 5 of the inlet leg to lift water and initiate syphonic action, the plunger comprises an apertured plate 9 and a flexible disc 15 slit radially to form flexible flaps and which disc, when flat, has a close fit at its outer edge with the part 5 but can flex upwardly to allow upward flow of water. A cup-shaped washer 23 and rubber washer 22 seal the aperture 21 through which the operating rod 7 passes, under the weight of water in the washer 23.
