882,702. Sanitary closets. IDEAL BOILERS & RADIATORS Ltd. Aug. 25, 1959 [Oct. 31, 1958], No. 35077 /58. Class 26. A combined water-closet basin and cistern unit of the kind in which the cistern 1 is directly attached to, or mounted upon, the water-closet basin 2 having a siphonic discharge passage with traps 9, 10, wherein a siphon 15 within the cistern 1 has a downcomer leg 16 to convey flushing liquid to the basin 2, which is fitted with a transverse tube 33 formed in its underside with an opening 40 and communicating with a space 14 between the traps 9, 10 so that, when flushing, air is extracted therefrom. Below the tube 33 the leg 16 may be integral with a tubular extension 17, (protruding through the cistern bottom 18 in to a flushing chamber 6 around the bowl 7 of the basin 2), with both of which the siphon 15 may be formed in one piece of vitreous china or ceramic material, sealing rings 28, 29 over the extension 17, being interposed between a flange 19 and the bottom 18 and between the bottom 18 and the platform 4 of the basin 2, respectively. The extension 17 may be integral with the flange 19, engaged by bolts 20 to secure together the siphon 15, the cistern 1 and the platform 4 in conjunction with nuts 22 and wing nuts 27, washers 21, 23, 26 and a rubber sealing element 24. The tube 33 is connected to a tube 38 extending through aligned holes in the flange 19 and the bottom 18, to communicate with the space 14 and engaging in a duct 13 formed in the basin 2, passing through the chamber 6 and the tube 33 extends across an enlarged part 31 of the leg 16, towards which the bore 30 of the leg 16 converges and from which the bore 32 of the extension 17 diverges.
