Abstract

221,385. Fremion, M., and Barre, C. Nov. 16, 1923. Actuating-mechanism; multiple-way valves. - A valve R in a casing M bolted to the bottom of an airpressure cistern is adapted to be actuated by a cam D on a spindle C. The cistern is discharged by raising the handle A which falls automatically at the end of the flush and not before. The handle is made hollow, Fig. 3, so that the weight may be adjusted by the insertion of lead shot. In a modified construction, Fig. 6, the valve R is connected to a piston X adapted to reciprocate in an apertured cylinder Y. A second piston Z supported by a spring 1 is capable of moving with slight friction in a piece U screwed in the casing M. This device prevents water-hammer in the event of the handle A falling by accident immediately after it has been raised. A device for shutting off the supply when the valve R is raised consists of a circular head 5 carried by a triangular shank 5<1> in the inlet pipe. The valve R contacts with the bevelled face to the piece 5 and forces it into the pipe, closing the latter.
