Abstract

1348975 Operating flushing cisterns TWYFORDS Ltd 19 April 1971 [10 March 1970] 11352/70 Heading E1C A flushing cistern is operated by a push-rod arrangement from a pedal assembly 26, the push-rod passing through a tube 17 secured by a gland 18 to the bottom 10 of the cistern and being connected to the piston 15 of a syphonic flushing device 11 via a transverse arm 24 on the push rod and motion-multiplying linkage. The linkage is preferably composed of a lever 20 pivoted to a fixing bracket 19 for the upper end of the tube 17, a link 21 from the outer end of lever 20 to the piston rod 16, and a link 25 from the centre of lever 20 to the transverse arm 24. The push-rod is preferably in two parts 22, 23, the transverse arm 24 being integral with the former, and the latter being engaged with arm 31 of a centrally pivoted pedal lever the other arm 27 of which carries a pedal pad 30.
