Class 26, In a syphon mechanism for flushing cisterns comprising a cylinder 3 with an upwardly displaceable plunger 4 disposed at the inlet end of the up-leg 1 for initiation of flushing, the plunger rod 6 is in the form of a tube which slides telescopically on a fixed guide rod 8 mounted on an anchorage 9 on the exterior of the up-leg. The normal operating mechanism is linked to a lug 16 on the connector 14, screwed on to the end of the plunger tube 6 and a rubber washer 26 seals the opening 7 in the cylinder 3, and also acts as a buffer as does the washer 25 disposed above the plunger.
