Abstract

1,151,566. Siphon-discharge flushing cistern. R. & A. G. CROSSLAND Ltd. 8 Dec., 1966 [16 Dec., 1965], No. 53388/65. Heading E1C. In a syphonic device with a piston 15 and cylinder 14 an air inlet tube 20 extends from the leg 12 at the lower end and coacts with the piston rod 16 to form a valve to control the entry of air into the inverted U-pipe 10, so that when the piston 15 is raised and held so, the rod 16 prevents air from entering the pipe 10 via the tube 20 and a full flush occurs, whereas on release of the rod 16, without holding, air can enter the pipe 10 through the tube 20 to pass through a rod aperture 16a to disrupt the syphon for a partial flush. The tube 20 may be integral with the cylinder 14 or separate and attached to the pipe 10.
