1481437 Double-flush cistern G M SLATER 10 Sept 1974 39391/74 Heading E1C A siphonic discharge cistern is converted to a "double-flush" type by making a hole 39 in the siphon, connecting an end of a tube 43 to the hole so that its other end 37 is located between the maximum water level 16 and the level of the siphon's inlet 19 and supporting the tube by a device 41 located in the spare-handle-hole of the cistern, the device 41 being operable to open or close the tube so as to admit or prevent the admission of air to the siphon. The device may comprise either a plunger 42 for flattening the tube or a valve in the tube.
