Abstract
1,227,101. Flushing cisterns. F. H. MIDDLETON. 14 May, 1969 [24 June, 1968], No. 24484/69. Heading E1C. A siphon-discharge flushing cistern having a discharge pipe 44 leading to a lower tray 43, and a bell 55 or a U-bend 46 forming the air chamber for the siphon has an air hole e.g. 63 at the top of the chamber which is connected to an eductor system, providing positive air extraction from the chamber to initiate the flush. The eductor system includes a flushing fluid inlet valve 66 and a pipe 65 with a venturi 68, the pipe ending above Fig. 2, or below the normal fluid level. If the normal fluid level is above the U-bend (Fig. 1) the pipe must end below, or a check valve is necessary.
