787,114. Syphonic flushing cisterns. JOHNS & CO., Ltd., E., and STOTT, C. K. April 14, 1956, No. 11434/56. Addition to 753,352. Class 26. A syphonic flushing cistern of the kind claimed in the parent Specification has the guide rod 8, over which tubular plunger rod 6 slides, formed over at least part of its length with a different cross-sectional shape from that of the bore of tube 6, which latter has rent means in the form of an aperture 32 in its lower end, so that air is admitted to the syphon towards the end of the flushing action to reduce noise. The guide rod 8 may be cut away to a triangular cross-section from the section line A-A downwards as shown, or it may be elliptical, rectangular or of D-shape in cross-section. Specification 753,352 also is referred to.
