Abstract
1,089,011. Siphon-discharged water-wastepreventers. ARMITAGE WARE Ltd. Nov. 9, 1965 [Aug. 11, 1964], No. 32593/64. Heading E1C. A dual-flush cistern comprises a syphon initiated by a piston 14 in the up-leg 10 with a stem 15, connected to an actuating claw lever 25 and forming an air passage into the syphon opening at 20, 21 above the bottom level of the up-leg, a valve 23 on an arm 24 being connected to the lever 25 for closing the passage, opened on operating the lever, when the lever 25 is returned after lifting to initiate syphonic action before the plunger 14 has returned to the initial position-to give a full flush. A bracket 27 extends laterally of the stem 15 and is connected to the flushing lever via a link 16 extending through an elongated slot 28 in the bracket 27 adapted to displace the claw lever 25 pivoted to the bracket 27 and carrying the valve 23. Instead of a claw lever 25 and bracket 27 there may be a cage with circlips or. other abutments on the tube 15 to limit sliding between the cage and tube. When the plunger 14 drifts down to give a condition as in the Figure, a partial flush occurs.
