Abstract
428,613. Siphon - discharge water - waste - preventers. HOLT, J., 19, Marlwood Avenue, Wallasey, Cheshire. Nov. 15, 1933, No. 31793. [Class 26] In a siphon-discharge water-waste-preventer of the constant water-level type, the discharge is initiated by a downward pull on the lever effecting a downward movement of the bell. The cistern is divided into compartments 2, 3 by a partition 6 ; the former compartment contains the bell and stand pipe and is fed by a valve 5 controlled by a float 4 in the second compartment which also has the overflow 11. The bell has an extension 17 provided with a one-way flap-valve 21 and is guided by rods 20. The actuating lever 12 is pivotally mounted at 13 upon the walls of the cistern and is secured at 14 to the bell, a weight 16 which may be varied as to position and value, being provided upon an extension The arrangement is such that when the lever 12 is lowered, the bell is also lowered and the member 17 acts as a plunger to force water over the stand-pipe 9 and initiate discharge. The compartment 3 is discharged by an auxiliary siphon 18 carried by the bell. Baffles 19 and a recess 10 to accommodate the lever 12 are also provided, whilst the pipe 9 may be circular, oval, or of Venturi-shape and of non- corrosive material.
