Abstract

324,437. Beresford & Son, Ltd., J., and Guinness, R. S. Nov. 9, 1928. Railway-carriage closets; closets for aircraft; valve closets operated by foot action; basins and pans; discharge fittings; valve-discharge waterwaste preventers.-Closets, especially for use on vehicles and aircraft, are flushed from a storage tank containing water under air pressure. The tank may form a unit with the closet or be separately formed, and it may be fitted with an aircompressing pump 17, Fig. 1, a filling opening 24. and a gauge 23. When a flushing valve 36, Fig. 6, is operated from a pedal 44, water flows to a nozzle having a substantially horizontal opening 56, Fig. 7, with or without a vertical opening 60, the flow ceasing when a ball 30 has been raised on to a seat at the upper end of a chamber 28. The flushing-valve mechanism may also operate, with or without lost motion, the dished closet valve 8, and a soil tank may be provided.
