Abstract

503,234. Chemical closets. AUSTRAL CABINET CO., Ltd., and NEWNES, H. J. Oct. 6, 1937, No. 27100. [Class 26] In a closet of the kind in which a tank houses a pan adapted to be raised out of liquid when the closet is in use, the pan is connected with a member operable under the weight of the user to raise the pan. In the construction shown, the pau 10 is carried by vertical arms 11, 12 connected to a crossbar 13, each end of which is extended downwardly and pivoted to a treadle supporting arm 20 pivoted at 22 to the tank. The arms 20 are connected by a treadle 21. A hinged lid 9 is connected, by a hinged link 23, to the crossbar 13 so that the lid is raised when the treadle is operated. The tank may have a removable container for the liquid. An outlet 7, for communicating with an earth pot, and a vent 25 are provided. The operating member may comprise the floor of the hut in which the closet is placed.
