[Class 26.] A shield 10 to prevent splashing of the disinfectant fluid in the container 5 below the pan 1 is so supported by a lever 8 that by the movement of the lever through an angle of less than 180‹ the shield is moved from a position below the bottom of the pan to a position where it is immersed in the disinfecting liquid, and is at the same time inverted. The lever 8 may be oscillated on its pivot 7 by an arm 12 connected to a bracket 18 on the closet lid 3, or by a link carried by a handle. A bar 26 pivoted to the shield and to a bracket 6 inverts the shield as it is moved from its upper to its lower position. A flap 28 is pivotally connected by links to the lever 8 to agitate the liquid when the shield is raised and lowered. The shield may be formed with a flange serving to agitate the liquid.
