Abstract

343,190. Disinfecting flushing-cisterns. TURNER, C. H., 10, Mitcham Road, East Ham, London. Nov. 22, 1929, No. 35837. [Class 26.] In a device for supplying liquid disinfectant to lavatory flushing-cisterns &c. of the type in which a single ladle is operated to raise a small quantity of disinfectant the ladle 4, Figs. 1 and 3, is pivotally mounted on a spindle 3 which is bent to accommodate a re-entrant portion Ib of the disinfectant container 1. The spindle 3 may be operated by a bell-crank lever 6 one arm of which slidably engages a loop 8 fixed to the spindle, while the other is attached to a chain 9 preferably connected to a loaded float in the flushing cistern. A projection 11 on the ladle is adapted to engage the upper part of a shoot 2, or other part of the apparatus if no shoot is provided, the tilting so started being continued by the engagement of the ladle with a fixed stop 12 and controlled by an arm 13 on the spindle 3, the upward movement of which may be limited by a fixed stop 14. The spindle 3 may be provided with an integral arm forming a bell crank or may be directly operated through the chain 9 which may also be attached to a moving part of the flushing mechanism. The ladle may be closed except for a small aperture through which the disinfectant passes. Specification 311,114, [Class 26, Closets &c.], is referred to.
