Abstract

386,159. Casting-machines. HORST, H., 14, Heinestrasse, Nowawes, near Potsdam, Germany. March 7, 1932, No. 6836. [Class 83 (i).] In a casting-machine, having an upwardly or horizontally acting pressure-piston K arranged in one of the mould plates but laterally of the mould cavity, the cylinder D is provided with a separate cover S immovable in the pressing direction. Molten metal is poured into the cylinder through an opening N in the cover, which is then moved, by a rack and pinion R, to close the cylinder. The piston K is then raised to eject the metal through a short passage Z into the mould F<1>, F<2>. The cover S is then returned and the residual metal ejected through the opening N by the piston K. The mould may be divided vertically. The piston K preferably has its crown bevelled on the side facing the passage Z. When the piston K is horizontal the opening N is used for ejection of residual metal and a separate opening in the mould plate is provided for filling the cylinder.
