Abstract
475,543. Casting-machines. WAGNER, K. F. Feb. 20, 1937, No. 5110. Convention date, Feb. 21, 1936. Addition to 475,541. [Class 83 (i)] In a casting-device described in the parent Specification the measured charge is fed by the plunger 10 direct into the pressure cylinder 14 between a pressure plunger 8 and counter plunger 9 which remains stationary until the charge has been forced into the mould 4 and then moves to the left with the plunger 8 until the residue has been severed from the casting and ejected. After the residue has been knocked off by a lever 17 the empty mould is closed and the plungers 8, 9 and 10 returned to their original positions, the vacuum produced in the cylinder 7 assisting in refilling it. The cylinder 14 is cooled by fluid circulated through a jacket 19 to cool the metal to a plastic condition before forcing into the mould. All the movements are operated in proper sequence under control of device 21. The cylinder 14 comprises two hardened steel bushes 22, 23 with the outlet 15 at their junction. Instead of being above the pressure cylinder the mould may be at one side or at an angle thereto.
