354,365. Squirting and casting machines. MAREAN, B. E., of British Moulded Hose Co., Sandown Road, Watford, Hertfordshire. May. 8, 1930, No. 14150. [Classes 83 (i), 83 (ii), and 83 (iv).] Castings, extracting; making cased forms, electric conductors, and tubes.-Vertical lead extrusion presses for tubes or for coating electric cables, rubber hose, &c., have associated therewith a battery of casting-moulds and a conveyer for transferring the billets cast therein to a hoist near the press. Billets are cast in moulds 3 and before solidification a hook &c. of a conveyer 4 is inserted in the upper face of a billet which is transferred to a hydraulically operated hoist 5 where it is engaged between a fixed jaw 9 and a movable jaw 10 joined to a fluid-pressure controlled piston 12. The cylinder 6 is vertically slidable on a fixed plunger 7 and may be rotated to bring the billet over the chamber 2 of the press.
