Abstract
392,264. Casting-machines. CRAVEN BROS. (MANCHESTER), Ltd., GREENWOOD, J. R., and ANDREW, C. C., Vauxhall Works, Reddish, Stock port. Dec. 21, 1931, No. 35277. [Class 83 (i).] Metal-pouring; castings, extracting; moulds. -A centrifugal casting - machine is provided with a turret i to carry a number of tools for use in the casting operation. The mould comprises a chill ring h, Fig. 2, an endplate f and an annular closure q having lugs q<2>, Fig. 4, engaged by spring-held lugs r on the housing g which is mounted on a face-plate f, with heatinsulating material f<1>, f<3> interposed. The mould is driven through gearing d from a motor c. The turret is mounted on a truck k and carries a pourer n, a rod o with an end disc p having a key to engage the hole and groove q<1>, Fig. 4, in closure q so that this can be held, while the housing is rotated to release the lugs q<2>, r, and then be removed. The turret also carries hand-operated grippers &c., which are then operated to extract the casting. In a modification the mould is arranged with its axis vertical, the pourer n being suitably modified.
