Abstract
386,016. Air - break switches. RUDMAN, A., 37, Raglan Street, Stretford, Manchester, and ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, July 29, 1931, No. 21703. [Class 38 (v).] Air-break switches for the several lines of an overhead transmission system are located above the transmission lines on a common base which has its longitudinal axis at right angles to the run of the transmission lines, and the pairs of contacts of the several switches are aligned substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the common base. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the switches 1, 2, 3 are mounted on a common base comprising two channel irons 13, 14 which serve as cross arms for the poles 16, 18, and also support the line strain insulators 35, 36, 37. The fixed contacts are mounted on the insulators 22, 23, 24, while rotatable insulators 4, 5, 6 carry movable contact arms 1, 2, 3 and are adapted to be moved simultaneously by a rod 31 and cranks 28, 29, 30. Arrangements are also shown for teeing off to transformers and also for sectionalizing ring feeders.
