Abstract
383,705. Air-break switches. TURNER, W. H., The Grove, Meanwood, and ISHERWOOD, W. H., 4, Caythorpe Road, Far Headingley, both in Leeds. Oct. 3, 1931, No. 27486. [Class 38 (v).] To connect a branch line or local transformer to one or other of two alternative sources of supply or branches of a ring main of an aerial high-tension transmission system each phase of the mains is provided with two separate incoming terminals and contacts adapted to be alternatively engaged by an inverted movable terminal and blade. The fixed terminals are 'mounted on a phase board 3 carried by a post 1 and comprise an insulator 4 or post of insulators with contacts 5 and terminals 6 or 7. An inverted pivoted terminal is mounted centrally of the fixed terminals and comprises an insulator 8 or post 'of insulators and blade 9 adapted to make contact with either contact 5 or disconnected from either. The pivoted terminal is connected to' an insulator 11 in which the branch line is connected. The pivoted terminal is operated by a hand-lever 15 through link 14 and arm 13, apertures 16 in the lever 15, and plate bracket 17 being provided for padlocking the lever 15.
