Abstract

400,505. Air-break switches. KUNZ, G., Uetikon-am-See, Z³rich, Switzerland. March 22, 1933, No. 8603. Convention date, March 23, 1932. [Class 38 (v).] A disconnecting switch for exposed conductors comprises a pair of carrier links 2, adapted to be connected to a pole or other fixture, a pair of shafts 3 connecting the ends of the links, and insulators 4 mounted on the shafts, each insulator having three grooves, the central one of which serves for attachment of the end 9 or 10 of the conductor, while the remaining grooves are engaged by saddle hoops 6 supporting contact plates 7, 8 to which the ends of the conductor are clamped at 11, 12. A switching member 14 provided with an operating ring 16 is pivoted to the plate 8, and can be moved into or out of engagement with contact clips 17, 18. One of the carrier links engages grooves in the faces of the insulator toprevent rotation of the latter. The switch is non-rotatably mounted on a carrier shaft 19 secured to a mast or other fixed member of the network.
